Antonio Catalán, president of AC Hotels by Marriott, received the Design and Quality Award as the Leading Chain in the Hotel Sector at the VI Comunidad de Madrid Awards.. This recognition highlights the efforts and achievements of AC Hotels in providing exceptional service and innovative design in the hospitality industry.

At the celebration gala of the VI Comunidad de Madrid Awards, held at the headquarters of the newspaper La Razón last March, the efforts of the 26 most influential companies and institutions in the business sector that drive the Spanish economy from Madrid were highlighted. The event, presided over by Miguel Ángel García Martín, Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the CAM, and sponsored by the Illustrious Official College of Administrative Managers of Madrid, began with the speech of Francisco Marhuenda, director of the newspaper La Razón, who stated that Madrid has become the economic engine of Spain, showing extraordinary dynamism that, as he expressed, is his “aspiration and desire that the rest of the communities advance at the maximum speed, as Madrid does.” Being the main driver of the country, Madrid presents figures that are difficult to match, as it receives around 63% of foreign investment, contributes around 19.4% of the national GDP, and has the highest per capita income, with 38,435 euros per inhabitant, 10,273 euros above the national average. After a succession of awards collected by the most prominent personalities of the business fabric, Antonio Catalán Díaz, president of the AC Hotels by Marriott Group, took the stage to receive the Design and Quality Award as the Leading Chain in the Hotel Sector, dedicating this recognition to the 3,500 people who work in the hotel chain. “All awards are well received, and we accept this one as a recognition of the entire group of people who work at AC Hotels by Marriott,” said Antonio Catalán. At the forefront of hospitality, the chain stands out for a modern and precise design model that seeks to meet the needs of the client in exclusive spaces with different environments that invite you to enjoy the moment. “We offer a contemporary and sophisticated lifestyle for modern travelers.”

In his initial stage of entrepreneurship, Antonio Catalán set a clear goal: to expand the company until it became the first urban hotel chain in Spain. A concept that he successfully carried out for his first chain, NH Hotels, which in 1997 culminated with the sale of his shares to give way in 1998 to a new business challenge, AC Hotels. This new project experienced exponential growth, consolidating the chain as a brand worthy of recognition and respect within the business field, until forming a strategic alliance with Marriott International, the largest hotel group in the world.

The AC Hotels brand, within a portfolio that exceeds 30 brands in the group, stands out in the lifestyle hotel segment, positioning itself as one of the first to achieve greater expansion, with a global presence of more than 225 hotels distributed in 33 countries around the world.

These figures have been possible thanks to the vision and effort to develop a business model with sustainable growth through impeccable management that seeks excellence in service, offering unique experiences. A brand that constantly redefines quality and service standards. The focus is always on the customer. “Our business is about people and for people.” His commitment has been maintained since the origins of his entrepreneurship, achieving a perfect equation that adds quality, design, functionality, and competitive price, whose appeal is unquestionable for both leisure and business customers.

His hotel model proposal stands out for the different spaces, perfectly precise, that allow adapting to the needs of the client throughout their day. The AC Hotels by Marriott brand is distinguished by its elegant and minimalist design, exceptional attention to detail, and strategic location in all urban destinations around the world.

In this edition of the Comunidad de Madrid Awards, the work of other awarded entrepreneurs should be highlighted, such as José Ángel Martínez Sanchiz, president of the General Council of Notaries, and María Emilia Adán García, dean of the College of Registrars of Spain, who highlighted the importance of the legal protection framework for companies. Marcos Sánchez Foncueva, representing the Los Cerros Compensation Board, received the Award for the Best Urban Planning Project of the Year for his management and contribution to Land Development in Madrid. The Montessori International Schools Group received the Award for Personalized Educational Project, from its director and manager, Luis Eduardo García Gualis. Nuria Hoya Sanmartín, general director of SDS Proyecta y Construye, received the Award for Best Industrial Construction Company. Atento Spain won the Award as Leading Company in Customer Management Services and Business Process Outsourcing. Its general director, Mónica Rey Amado, collected the award.

Miguel Ángel García Martín, Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration of the CAM, recognized the talent of all the entrepreneurs who make it possible for the Community of Madrid and the country to be much better, highlighting the role that companies play in society, transcending the legitimate interest of all. “The goal is to continue advancing in this political, social, and economic model that allows 70 new companies and their respective jobs to be created daily. We will write the present and future of Madrid together.”

The gala concluded with the family photo followed by the cocktail that put an end to the event.
